Subject: Please explain your position on military exports to Israel

Dear [MP name],

I am a constituent in [constituency]. I am asking you to seek a clear account of the UK's military exports to Israel and the safeguards intended to prevent their use in serious violations of international humanitarian law.

In September 2024, the government suspended around 30 licences because it identified a clear risk of such violations. The published export notice retained an exception for the wider F-35 programme. These records leave important questions about the scope of the restrictions and the assessment of risk.

Please tell me:

1. Will you ask the government to publish its present assessment of risk, including the evidence and criteria used?
2. Will you seek an explanation of remaining permissions and exceptions, particularly those affecting components that may reach Israel through international programmes?
3. Will you support suspending transfers where the applicable legal risk threshold is met, and meaningful parliamentary scrutiny of these decisions?

[Add one or two sentences explaining why this matters to you.]

Please provide your own position and the steps you will take, rather than only forwarding a general government statement.

Yours sincerely,

Subject: Please support the independence of international courts and UN experts

Dear [MP name],

I am writing as a constituent about sanctions imposed in 2025 on ICC personnel and UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese.

The ICC condemned the sanctions as interference with its independence. The UN High Commissioner urged reversal of the sanction on Albanese. Independent institutions must be able to examine allegations involving powerful states as well as weaker ones.

Please tell me whether you will:

1. Ask the government what practical steps it is taking to protect international justice personnel from political retaliation.
2. Support lawful measures to protect their ability to work, travel and access essential services.
3. Seek a clear government position on cooperation with the ICC and compliance with applicable international obligations.

I would welcome a reply identifying specific actions and how you will follow up.

Yours sincerely,

Subject: Please explain your actions to protect civilians in Gaza

Dear [MP name],

I am a constituent concerned about the protection of people in Gaza and their ability to obtain food, medical care, shelter and safe water.

The ICJ's January 2024 provisional-measures order included humanitarian assistance and protection of Palestinians in Gaza. I would like to know how those obligations and the needs of civilians are reflected in the UK's policies today.

Please explain what you are doing to seek:

1. Safe, sustained humanitarian access and protection of medical and aid workers.
2. Transparent support for essential services and reconstruction, with Palestinian participation in decisions affecting their future.
3. Accountability for unlawful attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, whoever commits them.

[Add a personal reason for writing.]

Please identify a specific parliamentary question, ministerial correspondence or other action you will take.

Yours sincerely,
